Long Covid

What is Long Covid ?

Long Covid refers to long-lasting symptoms that were triggered by a Covid infection.  In the case of a mild Covid disease, the symptoms can remain for up to 6 weeks, in the case of severe courses and inpatient treatment for more than 3 months.

The cause of the persistent symptoms is unclear. Presumably, ongoing inflammation forms due to
  • hidden viruses in the body,
  • unrecognizable triggers
  • an autoimmune reaction against your own tissue.

Long Covid is stressful due to its long duration, which exhausts body, mind and soul. Due to the lack of prospects of recovery, everyday life has to be redesigned in the long term.

How to treat Long Covid?

Medical treatment is essential to control vital signs and to counteract symptoms such as lack of oxygen or states of exhaustion.

Body therapy can support this by strengthening the body's resistance, as well as thinking and feeling (resilience) and alleviating stressful symptoms:
  • Improve lung function and throat/pharynx/ear tissue muscular and fascial
  • Promote liver metabolism and the elimination of inflammatory processes - this can further stress the skin as an elimination organ in the short term, but in the medium term it reduces damage from inflammatory processes and further fever attacks.
  • Vitalize the lymph and intestines to balance and strengthen the immune system
  • Balancing the neuro-vegetative nervous system: releasing stress, fear and pain (amygdala); Promote sleep, digestion and libido
  • Release brain structures: relieve headaches, reduce dizziness, promote the function of vital cranial nerves (taste, smell, digestion, hearing).
  • Release hormone glands: promote well-being (seretonin/dopamine), metabolism (tyrosine), libido (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone).
  • Develop mindfulness and compassion to better deal with stressful situations. Feelings such as powerlessness, helplessness, worthlessness can be alleviated and the current situation can be better accepted. Directing mindfulness (defocusing) helps to relieve pain, pressure or diffuse tension.
